There are a number of optical elements that are used in IR spectroscopy.
Some of them are:
- Lenses
- Windows - protective coated, anit-reflection (AR) coated, wedged
- IR Beamsplitters - custom design and most FTIR spectrometers
- ATR plates
- Mirrors
- Spheres
- Wedges
- Interferometer Flats
- Micro-Optics
There are many materials used and available. Some of them are:
- Amtir (Chalcogenide Glass)
- Barium Fluoride (BaF2)
- Cadmium Telluride (CdTe)
- Calcium Fluoride (CaF2)
- Cesium Iodide (CsI)
- Germanium (Ge)
- Lithium Fluoride (LiF)
- Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2)
- Potassium Bromide (KBr)
- Potassium Chloride (KCl)
- Quartz (SiO2)
- Sapphire (Al2O3)
- Silicon (Si)
- Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
- Thallium Bromo-iodide (KRS-5)
- Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)
- Zinc Sulfide (ZnS)
For example, gas cells need IR transparent windows to let the IR beam in and out of the gas cell. There are many different options available. The options are in diameter, thickness, material, wedged and unwedged, anti-reflection (AR) coated on one or both sides, etc. There are other opticals elements used in this area of science and available through FTIR.com. We can supply ATR crystals for horizontal and other types of ATR accessories for most common ATR accessory manufacturers.
We can supply beamsplitters for most FTIR spectrometers and especially for older FTIR spectrometers no longer supported by the manufacturer.
Beam splitters for - Nicolet, Perkin Elmer, Digilab, MIDAC, etc.
We have supplied beam splitters for femtosecond (high speed) laser applications. Major research laboratories are using our beamsplitters for these ultrafast optics applications.
We offer a number of different types of mirrors with mounts used to interfaced gas cells and other custom IR applications. These mirrors include flats, off axis parabolic (OAP), elliptical mirrors, etc.
